St Olave's School is the Junior school of St Peter's School, York, one of Europe's oldest and most famous schools and currently enjoying tremendous success in academic, sporting and cultural activities.
St Olave's is a day and boarding school for children aged 8 to 13 years. There are currently approximately 300 girls and boys in the Junior School. Children can enter the nursery class of Clifton Preparatory School from 4 years old. Each school has its own buildings and teachers, but shares the same campus and some of the same facilities as the senior school. These include the School Chapel, the Indoor Swimming Pool, the Sports Centre, playing fields, Drama Centre and Recital Room, Design and Technology Centre and Information Technology Resource centre. In addition, St Olave's School has its own new classroom building, new library and computer centre.
St Olave's School's small classes allow teachers to give individual attention and caring supervision. Effort as well as achievement is regularly monitored and rewarded. The staff consists of graduates and trained teachers who specialise in this age group. The social, cultural and physical development of pupils is encouraged by a wide variety of activities. The aim is to discover individual talents and develop them in order to prepare the girls and boys for their further education and future life. Every child is a member of a House which provides pastoral support. Resident House Staff provide a homely environment in the Boarding Houses.
